PostHeaderIcon We Have Babies!

A family of Eastern Bluebirds is in our old nesting box, and a Brown-Headed Nuthatch family is in an old stump.  I'm sure we have more.  I just haven't found them.

PostHeaderIcon Vacation!

This week was suppose to be a vacation.  Our plans were to visit our son in Pa.  Because of my husband's surgery and illness, those plans were changed to a vacation at home.  Guess what?  I'm enjoying it so much.  Here's some shots from vacation in my yard.  LOL!

PostHeaderIcon American Goldfinch

Most of this week, I've again enjoyed watching little Goldfinches.  The males are starting to get their colors, and the females are fighting over the bird feeder.  I guess the males are too.  They're kind of hard to tell apart if they're not getting in the bright color of summer.

PostHeaderIcon Handsome Towhee

The towhee is a handsome sparrow, but is so easy to miss.  It was just a few years ago that I saw my first one.  He was around all the time;  I just wasn't looking.  The towhee is usually scratching around in the leaves at the edge of the woods.

This little bird seemed to have gotten up on the wrong side of the nest. LOL
I think it's a female as I've seen males who have started getting their spring color.

PostHeaderIcon Northern Cardinal

The Northern Cardinal is one of my mom's favorite birds.  I can still hear, "Look!  There's a red bird."  When I was just a toddler, she purchased a group of three red birds to hang on the wall.  From what I understood, she saved up the money to get them.  While in the process of hanging them, little Renda pick up one.....well, you can guess the rest of the story.  I'm now the owner of that glued together red bird.  Mom, this post is for you.

PostHeaderIcon Cute little Chickadee

The Carolina Chickadee visits my feeders several times each day.  They nested in my yard last year.  I'm hoping they decide to nest there again.

Location

Unless indicated otherwise, all bird shots were taken in my yard in South Carolina.

I have two cameras. Many of my bird pictures were taken with a Sony DSC-H50. I really enjoy that little camera and will continue to use it from time to time.

I now have a refurbished Pentax K10D and am learning how to use a DSLR.

About Me

Renda
I never thought that I would blog, but here I am. I wanted a way to share my bird shots with friends and family, and what better way than creating a blog. I hope that I can get this thing together and that you will enjoy it. My birds will usually by the ones that visit my yard, so you will see the same species over and over again. I hope that doesn't bore you, because I certainly have fun "capturing" these little creations from God.
